Saturday, March 26th, 2011 our Club and School hosted the Fresno County Championships Chess Tournament!!! Those who were there know we did an outstanding job. The results are posted on the side bar to the left of this announcement. A special CONGRATULATIONS!!! goes out to Michael Ewy. He tied for 1st place for Fresno County Champ! AWESOME JOB!!! I would also like to thank everyone who helped out with this event. The parents, teachers, custodians and especially Mrs. Friesen. She not only obtained all of the supplies for the snack bar for us but also got the ball rolling early that morning. We did not sell everything but we still came out ahead in the end. Between Martha Mendoza's family, Misty Gibson's contacts and Mrs. Spate the snack bar had more than enough help. They were there the entire day so thank you so much for the help. I would also like to thank Papa Murphy's Pizza. They did an amazing job for us. We ended up using 25 pizza's for our event. That is 10 more than last year! The pizza was fresh and delicious. Nick, the Papa Murphy's representative who cooked the pizza on site with BBQ's got everyone in the mood for pizza as soon as the smell hit the main room in the Student Center. A big thank you to EVERYONE involved including SEQUOIA CHESS FOR KIDS! To the club members who participated. Thanks so much. You did a great job and made me proud. As soon as I can I will add some more pictures to the site. Let me know if you have any ideas for the site and would like to see something added. Also don't forget to bring your recyclable cans and plastic bottle to the school on March 30th by 3p.m. Place them in plastic bags along the north side of the student center and I will pick them up and cash them in for the chess club. Additional days for pick-up are, April 27th and May 25th.
